Six Akala’s supporters die in auto crash


THREE weeks after a fatal auto crash involving supporters of Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala at the Moniya area  of Ibadan after a rally held in Oyo town for the re-election of the governor, six people were reported dead in another road accident ahead a rally in Oyo town.

The accident reportedly happened around 11 a.m. yesterday in the ancient town right in front of a commercial bank. The latest casualties brought the number of the supporters of the governor that died in auto crashes to 10 in the last one month.

Though, Alao-Akala, through his Special Adviser on Public Communication, Prince Dotun Oyelade, denied having any relationship with the victims, he commiserated with them.

According to some eye witnesses, six people died on the spot while others, who sustained serious injuries, were rushed to Pemat Hospital, Oyo for treatment.

Sunday Vanguard gathered that the bus, with number plate XL 401 ABJ, had head-on-collision with another truck that loaded bags of satchet water.

Due to the dwindling influence of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the ancient town under the rulership of Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, residents allegedly refused to offer help to those trapped in the commercial bus.

Details of the auto crash also revealed that the driver was driving recklessly and lost control of the bus which made it to swerve and run into an on-coming truck.
