PIB must guarantee oil workers’ future – NUPENG, PENGASSAN

Port Harcourt – The leadership of National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers Association, NUPENG and that of Petroleum and Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PANGASSAN have warned that the Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB, must guarantee the future of Nigerian workers in that sector in line with  global best practices.

No Nigerian worker, the unions warned, should lose his/her job as a result of the Act and that casualization of any form in the industry will be strictly forbidden, calling for the accessibility of the bill to all Nigerians.

In a statement after an the emergency meeting of the Producers Forum in Port Harcourt, Rivers State weekend, the unions said, they were “aware of the abuse of the Nigerian Content policy, which  is currently being used against fellow Nigerians in terms of irregular salaries by some establishments.”
