Osun: ACN, PDP accuse each other of plans to disrupt elections

OSOGBO – Barely three days to the election into the National Assembly, the Action congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Osun State and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, are trading words over alleged plan to disrupt the election through violence.

Similarly, both parties have expressed different views over the security situation in the state and the conduct of the state Commissioner of Police and the State Security Service, SSS, in supervising a free and fair election.

While the ACN is accusing the Director of SSS of making himself a willing tools in the hands of the PDP, the PDP in turn also accused the state Commissioner of Police of doing the bidding of the ruling ACN and called for his immediate transfer out of the state.

Both parties made their positions known at different briefings yesterday on the security situation in the state.

The PDP, through its chairman in the state, Chief Sunday Ojo Williams accused the ruling ACN of illegal arrest and detention of some of its candidates ahead of the Saturday election.

Similarly, the ACN took a swipe on the  Director of SSS, alleging that he had connived with the PDP to rig Saturday’s National Assembly election and also protect the interest of the party during the polls.
