THE 75-year-old mother of the Senior Special Assistant to Edo State Governor on Surveillance/Waterways Security, Mr. Don Robert, has been abducted by gunmen, who invaded his residence in Inikorogha town, Ovia South-West Local Government Area of the state.
Vanguard gathered that the armed men shot and killed his personal aide, Ogaga Sapele, 28 and younger sister, Faye Ojemba, 16 during the attack.
According to sources, Madam Rebecca Edu, now spending her eighth day in captivity, was abducted when her son, Don narrowly escaped from the house during the invasion.
Narrating his ordeal, Okubo said that after intense patrol of the waterways in the riverine area of Edo State, he led some of his boys to pass the night in his family house, when at about 3 a.m. on Sunday, March 20, the gunmen numbering 12 and armed with AK 47 riffles broke into the house, killing his younger sister and personal aide.
He said the gunmen later called him demanding N5 million and the release of their men whose arrest by officials of the State Security Service for various criminal cases he facilitated.
He lamented that the gunmen were still holding his mother hostage after collecting N500,000.00 ransom from him.
He, however, appealed to relevant authorities to help facilitate the safe release of his aged mother.
