Kwara State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has denied it is adopting a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the governorship race.
It says reports of the Muslim-Muslim ticket do not represent the true position of the situation but only trying to paint it in a bad light.
“The party’s candidature of Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed and Isiaka Gold were initially adopted to be able to meet up with INEC’s deadline on submission of nomination forms before a substantive deputy who is the choice of the people could be nominated.
“PDP, like many other parties, have since substituted the name of Alhaji Isiaka Gold with the name of Mr. Peter Kisra as the duly nominated deputy governor of the party in the forthcoming general election” the party said in a statement.
“The party has since communicated the said changes to the INEC’s headquarters for further action and as you can see that many political parties in the country have had one complaint or the other over wrong placement of the names of their candidates by INEC.
The party wishes to implore our Christian brothers and sisters in the state that their interest is always protected and will continue to be protected in the interest of justice and fair play,” it added.
