OWERRI – The growing political rivalry between Senator Osita Izunaso and Chief Hope Uzodinma has destroyed the once very effective Orlu Political Consultative Assembly, OPOCA.

Loyalists of Senator Izunaso had about a week ago, announced a new leadership of OPOCA, headed by Chief Kingsley Ufere, as well as sacked OPOCA executive and suspended two aides of Governor Ikedi Ohakim.

Reacting to the development, National President of OPOCA, Chief Samfo Nwankwo, accused Izunaso of transforming his campaign outfit into a counterfeit OPOCA to cause confusion in the regional political body.

Accusing Izunaso of being the brain behind the confusion, Nwankwo, however, expressed regret that “a group of people who could not market a serving senator that claimed to have performed, now want to hijack OPOCA.”
Nwankwo alleged that after losing the PDP senatorial primaries, which Chief Uzodinma won through the support of OPOCA, Senator Izunaso and his loyalists have become desperate, adding, however, that they must realize that his defeat at the primaries must not bring down Orlu zone.

The OPOCA boss advised that since Izunaso had taken Uzodinma to court, Orlu people were patiently awaiting the outcome and wondered why the transformation of his campaign team to counterfeit OPOCA would solve his problem.
He said: “Those who are currently parading themselves as the new OPOCA interim executive were long expelled from the body and a non-member of the group cannot dictate what happens in the place.”
