IAP wades into TUC, NLC dispute

ABUJA – The Industrial Arbitration Panel, IAP, sitting in Abuja, on the trade dispute between two  factions of Association of Senior Staff of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions, ASSBIFI, affiliated to Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the one affiliated to the Trade Union Congress, TUC,  has ordered the immediate remittances of check-off dues running into hundreds of million naira in favour of the ASSBIFI affiliated to TUC, in accordance with the provision of Section 13 (2) of Trade Dispute Act CAP T8 of the Federation of Nigeria (LFN) 2004.

However, Vanguard gathered that the ASSBIFI affiliated to NLC, yesterday, filed an appeal against the IAP ruling with National Industrial Court, NIC.

The IAP ruling was delivered last Thursday in the  dispute that started since 2004.

The Tribunal in a verdict signed by Chinedu C. Dike (Mrs.), Deputy Director, Trade Union Services and industrial relation department, also ordered all parties to return to the terms and spirit of the agreement that covered constitutional issues, secretariat re-structuring, enlarged National Executive Council, NEC, which they freely entered as evidence in the communiqué issued and witnessed by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity on  June 30, 2007.
