As parts of efforts directed towards repositioning and boosting acceptability of its products, Glaxo SmithKline Consumer Nigeria Plc, a quoted entity on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) has relaunched Ribena Blackcurrant drink in a new PET bottle.
Speaking at a briefing to unveil product, in Lagos, last week, Acting Director of the company, Mrs Hannah Oyebanjo said the Ribena brand which has been known for some time in Nigeria has continued to wax stronger, while the relaunch is also targeted at further satisfying its customers as well as enhancing the bond between consumers.
Oyebanjo said the innovation will make it even more convenient for consumers to be able to enjoy the Vitamin C fully enriched product.
She said “We stand for quality, which is why when people ask, ‘Is it coming from GSK?, if it is GSK we do not look twice, we do not think twice.’”
“We are sure of what we do because we stand by our core vision which is quality, safety, better life, longer life, every thing we bring is healthcare-oriented and that is why we are called healthcare organisation,” she noted.
Talking about challenges, she added “we welcome them, it helps the consumers to get choice and now we have even covered all across the gamut of choices that we have, we are riding on the wings of challenges to do even more better.
However, she said the innovation came as a result of the challenges it has grown up with and lived by, pointing out that if you are a player in an industry and you don’t have challenges, then you are not a player.
Brands Manager, Mrs Toyin Yusuf said the innovation came after research and findings which shows that mothers especially love the Ribena drink, but however have a little limiting factor in that felt they were stealing from kids, noting that it gave a good indication of its target and market.
Yusuf added the latest innovation to the Ribena portfolio, is what the Ribena PET, adding that is in a PET bottle now as well, is the same good nourishing black currant tasty fruit juice that you’ve always loved.
“If you recall last year we unveiled the new park of ribena as well as the Ribena 150ml, the small Ribena that sells for N50, we are here again which clearly states that Ribena is in the mist of the whole lots of innovation and changes now. We are trying to reach every nook and cranny of the country and we are reaching every one, we are reaching with both small and big parks, she said.
