Electricity employees urged to ensure stable power supply

UGHELLI — NATIONAL Cordinator of the Initiative for Better Power Supply, a non governmental organisation, Don Emma Onose, has told the National Union of Electricity Employees and Presidential Task Force on Power to work in unity to ensure stable power supply to Nigerians.

He said the group was committed to the improvement of power supply in the country. Onose in a statement, Monday, said the group would partner with the Federal Government on the power roadmap.

According to him, the group was making effort towards re-uniting the National Union of Electricity Employees and Presidential Task Force on Power, adding that it was not in the interest of public power supply consumers if the groups continued to be in conflict.

He said: “We want these two bodies to work together towards ensuring stable power in the country. Therefore, they should put aside their differences and come together for better power reform.

“The general public is eagerly hoping to see a better power situation in Nigeria and the present administration has invested so much money on power for Nigerians to benefit from the dividends of democracy.

“The Presidential Task Force should know that the workers union has a great role to play in power reform, therefore they should be carried along.  The workers union on their parts should accept the good will of President Goodluck Jonathan towards the power sector since no administration has sincerely developed the power sector like this in the past.

“The workers union should therefore toll the part of peace and stop frequent strike action; what Nigerians want to hear is an improvement of the power sector”.  “
