Ebonyi Police get arms, ammunition in readiness for April polls


ABAKALIKI – AHEAD of the forthcoming general election, the Nigeria Police Force has provided arms, ammunitions, gadgets and other essential armoury to the Command in Ebonyi State to ensure that the polls were crime-free.

Speaking during a familiarization tour of Ebonyi State Police Command, yesterday, in Abakaliki, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Mohammed Abubakar, in charge of zone six, Calabar, urged the command in the state to make best use of the armoury as provided by the Federal Government through the Inspector-General of Police, Hafiz Ringim.

AIG Abubakar assured the officers and men of the command that all the allowances approved for them during the election would be paid without any delay, adding that they would not wait for the state government to carry out such responsibility.

He observed that one of the major factors responsible for the high rate of kidnapping in the zone was the missing link between the have and have not in the society.

Abubakar charged the police to be proactive in handling cases revolving around sensitive matters.
He said:  “The arms and ammunitions, tear gases, have all arrived in the state in respect  of  the election. Please discharge your duty the way it ought to be done.

“Everybody that will participate in this election will be paid his or her allowances. Half a dime will not be reduced from anybody’s allowance. We are not waiting for the state government to pay your allowance.”
