Chief Executive Officer of Dana Air, Jacky Hathiramani, and Air Nigeria, weekend, emerged top winners at the 2010 Nigeria Aviation, NIGAV, Awards, which held in Lagos.
While the Dana Air boss emerged the best CEO in the sector during the period, Air Nigeria was selected the best airline of the year, barely two years after transmuting from Virgin Nigeria.
According to the NIGAV Awards Committee, Hathiramani clinched the award for his exemplary leadership and passion for excellence which had seen Dana Air grow to become one of Nigeria’s leading airlines in just over two years of its operations.
In his response, Hathiramani expressed appreciation to the organizers of the award for the honour bestowed on him and re-iterated his commitment to steer Dana Air to enviable heights, not only within the local travel industry but also on the regional and international scale.
Receiving Air Nigeria’s award, the CEO, Kinfe Kahssaye, said: “Today, we celebrate the confidence and trust of our passengers as their modest comments and recommendations about our services have continued to spur us to constantly introduce innovative service offerings, and it is our commitment to continuously meet and exceed their expectations.”
This year’s award was themed ‘Expanding Air Transport Business Opportunities’ and had in attendance notable aviation personalities as the Director General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, Dr. Harold Demuren, who gave the key note address on the essence of maintaining high level customer-centered air transport services.
Recipient of several awards for excellence, Dana Air is one of Nigeria’s leading airlines, operating daily flights to Abuja, Kano, Lagos and Uyo.
Receiving Air Nigeria’s award, the MD/ CEO of the airline, Mr. Kinfe Kahssaye, dedicated it to passengers for their confidence and trust in the services of Air Nigeria.
He also thanked the organisers of the event for their painstaking efforts in collating passengers’ feedbacks as well as employing methods that are verifiable in selecting the eventual winners.

He noted further that the recognition of excellence through winning of the prestigious award was a testament that Air Nigeria was on the right path in raising the bar of performance in the Nigerian and African aviation industry.
Initiated in 2007, the NIGAV Awards is an annual event held to recognize those companies and individuals that have made outstanding contributions towards the development of the aviation industry and related activities in Nigeria.
