Community denies vandalising hospital equipment

By  Eric Ugbor

Aba – The Ohuhu Ikeala Nsulu community in Isiala North Local Government Area of Abia State has denied  report that its hospital’s equipment, donated by the European Union under the MPP 6 counter part project, was vandalized.

The report had stated that women of the community went on rampage over the carting away of the community’s medical equipment by some youths of the area who allegedly acted on the behest of Dr. Godwin Uwaoma, chairman of  Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, Aba branch.

In a letter, entitled “his hands are clean” and signed by Cosmos Azubuine and Stephen Opuehi, President and Secretary of Ohuhu Ikeala Nsulu Development Union, OINDU, respectively, the community stated that at no time did its health center’s medical equipment disappeared, neither did the women go on rampage.

The union described Uwaoma as an accomplished medical doctor, stressing thathe never incited the youths to disrupt the peace of the community.

It stated that the medical equipment at the hospital were vandalized, saying they were still intact.

The union said it was not aware of the disagreement between the community and its traditional ruler over the status of the hospital, stating that should not call for character assassination of their prominent sons.

OINDU noted that Dr. Uwaoma was being maligned because he stood on the path of truth with the rest of the community that the health facility should be a secondary health center and should also not be handed over to
Isiala Ngwa North local council area.
