Acting General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, Barrister Musa Amadu said on Thursday that the trip of NFF President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari and himself to Zurich, Switzerland was to honour a meeting that had been long scheduled over Nigeria’s desire for more FIFA goal projects.
Amadu spoke from Zurich following reports in a section of the media that Maigari and himself had gone to Zurich to be by the side of suspended FIFA Executive Committee Member, Dr. Amos Adamu, whose appeal over a three-year suspension was heard by FIFA’s Appeal Committee on the same day
“It is important to put the facts straight. We are not here to be by the side of Dr. Adamu. It happened that our visit coincided with Dr. Adamu’s appeal that was being heard at the FIFA Headquarters.
“Remember that we had long sought for a meeting with the FIFA President, Mr. Blatter. Originally, we got an appointment for January 26. But we were eventually alerted that Mr. Blatter would be otherwise engaged and another date had to be worked out. That was how it came to be Thursday, February 3.
“It is not that we deny Dr. Adamu. We have absolutely no reason to do that. It is just important to put the issues straight. We got our earlier appointment with FIFA even before a date was set for Dr. Adamu’s appeal”, concluded Amadu.
