Group blows lid on oil bunkering vessel

By Emma Amaize
THE Niger Delta Waterways Vigilante, NDWV, yesterday, raised alarm over the clandestine demolishment of an ocean-going vessel, belonging to a notorious and very powerful Greek national, intercepted, by security agents last year, by a syndicate of bunkerers to wipe out proof of the ship’s arrest for oil bunkering.

The sinister plan, according to the group was to cover up the ship’s involvement in oil bunkering just like the Greek bunker conspired with members of his syndicate to ridicule the nation in 2005 over the sudden disappearance of MT Africa Pride from Nigeria’s shores.

The Greek national is said to be the most notorious illegal oil bunkerer in Nigeria. He is reportedly behind this latest sinister agenda in Calabar to destroy vessel (names withheld) , which had been used to transport crude from the nation’s territorial waters to Athens in Greece, the home country of the unrepentant Greek national, more than any other vessel in Africa.

National coordinator of NDWV, Chief Gabriel Okolosi, who made this known while briefing newsmen in Warri, disclosed that the demolition of the seized vessel was currently going by oil thieves at  a boat yard company in the  Calabar Free Trade Zone,  owned by a Chinese national.
