FG to tackle unemployment – Wogu

Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chief Emeka Wogu, has assured unemployed Nigerian Youths that the scourge of unemployment will soon be reduced to the barest minimum as President Goodluck Jonathan, has demostrated strong political will to tackle this malady.

The Minister stated this while receiving the Executive of the Unemployed Youths Association of Nigeria (UYAN). Led by its National President, Comrade Ogbada Achoji, the executive members were in the Minister’s office to present the report of the conference organised by the Association.

According to Chief Wogu: “The Federal Government under the leadership of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR, has made concrete efforts at addressing the scourge of unemployment in Nigeria, as this is evident in the content of the 2011 budget, it is a budget that is aimed at addressing the issue of unemployment through the provision of stimulus package for the unemployed in the Nation.”

Chief Wogu, informed the Youths that the Federal Executive Council had approved a National Action Plan on Employment creation, which he believes would fast- track the reduction of unemployment in Nigeria.

“A national action plan on employment creation has been approved by the Federal Executive Council with the aim of directing Federal Government on how to generate jobs and save existing ones as well as giving opportunity to unemployed Nigerians to participate in the activities of government”, he added.
