The Federal Government has signed N5.41billion contract on expansion of irrigation project to be executed by Dantata and Sawoe.
The 24 months contract is for the expansion of Watari Irrigation Project in Bagwai Local Government Area of Kano State.
The Bagwai Irrigation project is located about 65km South West of Kano City. The scheme has eight sectors and so far, five sectors including sectors 1 – 5 and 8 have been developed.
Chief Obadiah Ando, Honourable Minister of Water Resources signed the contract in Abuja Tuesday on behalf of the federal government with the Managing director of Dantata and Sawoe, Mr Udo Heidschuster, explaned that the Federal Government had reviewed the contract sum after due process as he enjoined the company to keep to the stipulated 24 months completion time in the agreement.
The Water Resources Minister said the Federal Government invest huge sum on irrigation so as to enhance quality of life of Nigerians whist he implored the company to deliver qualitative work to merit the money put into the project.
Heidschuster, Managing Director of Dantata and Sawoe on his part assured the government that Dantata and Sawoe would give the government a run for its money whilst the company would also keep to the time frame given for the job.
The outstanding works based on the original and revised scope for sectors 6 and 7 are to be completed under the revised contract.
