Enugu PDP to commence campaign for April polls, says party chair

By Tony Edike
THE Vita Abba-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Enugu State, yesterday, assured its members and teeming supporters of more quality leadership and a robust political campaign that would promote the image of the party and its candidates to the electorate for the forthcoming general elections.

In a statement signed by the state Chairman of the party, Mr. Vita Abba, the party thanked the people of the state,  its members and supporters across the country for their supports and prayers during the period of political bickering in the state chapter of the party.

Mr. Abba noted that in spite of series of distractions and setbacks by a few individuals from the state who wanted to force themselves on the party and take over its affairs for their personal interest without recourse to the Constitution of the PDP, “the party is still focused, strong and repositioned for the challenges ahead.”

He further called on the members of the party in the state to always remain calm and law abiding, even in the face of provocation and undemocratic acts by those he described as “strange bed fellows”, stressing that the days were gone when such political gimmicks worked in the PDP.

Abba revealed that the party was poised to introduce a unique and all-inclusive campaign strategy that will give all members of the party in the state a fundamental role to play in line with the decision of the national leadership of the party in an effort to mobilize effectively and market the party’s candidates to the electorate.

The state PDP chairman of the party also expressed delight over the quality of the party’s flag bearers in the state, stressing  that this was an indication of the level of commitment the PDP-led government of Mr. Sullivan Iheanacho Chime to provide more quality leadership to the people of the state.

He urged the Alhaji Bello-led National Working Committee of the party to remain undaunted and steadfast in its resolve to right the wrongs of the past and restore the confidence of the public in the ability of the PDP to reposition itself and take the country to greater heights.
