The overseer of Crown FC of Ogbomoso, Olanrewaju Oladeji, has opened up on the reasons behind the suspension of head coach Ganiyu Salami.
Speaking to Sunday Vanguard Sports, he said the suspensions of the head coach was borne out of the lack of seriousness of the team.
“Our action was necessitated by the lack-lustre performance displayed by the boys on the pitch in the game against Bukola Babes FC which I believe has no special thing that the boys could not put a sterling performance against.
‘’They were together in the Pro League; so they are not new to each other. They should not have seen them as one heavyweight. I am happy that the match was televised for everybody to see.
“There is nothing we can do for now as we have to take decisive actions which we know will aid the team’s recovery from its present situation. We cannot change any of the players now until mid-season.
“Well, in between now and then, the management has decided that the players would go on half salary until changes are seen in the team.
“For the head coach, Ganiyu Salami and his assistant, David Egbiri, they are under suspension. Whether or not they were wrong, they still have to take part of the blame. In the mean time, Coach Oladunni Oyekale takes over the team.
“With these decisions, I believe things would change and the boys would know that we mean business. By these actions and God on our side, there would be better performances in our subsequent matches.
“Nobody should see us as one stumbling team that cannot make it in the Premier League. We shall improve, I am sure that the boys would get themselves together and step-up their game,” he said.
