The chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum, and the outgoing governor of Kwara State, Dr Bukola Saraki, yesterday picked the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) ticket for Kwara Central Senatorial District.

He  emerged as the winner of the re-run primary election.

Saraki polled 1,044 votes to beat Mallam Yonus Abdulrahman who scored 13 votes and Alhaji LAK Jimoh who polled seven votes at the re-run primary held at Ansaru- Islam Primary School , Okekere Ilorin.

The National Secretariat of PDP had ordered a re-run for the Kwara Senatorial District seat following the withdrawal of the winner of the January 7 primary, Alhaji Isiaka Gold from the race.

The re-run which commenced at about 8  a.m with accreditation of delegates lasted about four hours and was conducted under a peaceful atmosphere. It was supervised by five national officials of PDP led by Hon. Anayo Nnebe

If Saraki eventually wins the election in April, he would  be replacing  his sister, Senator Gbemisola Saraki, who is presently on second term at the Senate.

In his response shortly after his declaration  as  the winner  of the election, Saraki described  his election as a great honour done him by his people.
