PORT HARCOURT – Politicians seeking political offices have been urged to do so for the interest of the nation. Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG who gave the charge in Port Harcourt at a special prayer service for Rivers state and the political sector further urged politicians to ensure they champion the interest of the poor.

Adeboye said God would continue to honour those that accord him glory.

On his part, governor of Rivers state, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi at the event called on the electorates to vote only credible aspirants in the coming elections. He advised them to be guided by those with the capacity to bring genuine developments to the state.

The Governor said the people of the state should seek the face of God to help them produce the best governor that would appreciate the problems of the people, noting that the people of the state had suffered enough in the past.

Noting that his emergence as governor was divine, Amaechi said it came to be in spite of the manipulations of some persons he identified as powerful men.

Governor Amaechi said his regular prayer was for God to forgive his mistakes and guide him to continue to deliver qualitative leadership to the state.

The governor explained that though his administration came up with some policies that were capable of making his government unpopular but looking back at the programmes it was the best for the overall interest of the people of Rivers State.

He thanked Pastor Adeboye for coming to the state and appealed to him to pray for peaceful elections in Nigeria and Rivers State.
