Don’t interfere with people’s choice, Delegates advise PDP

*Says, “Our choice is our choice.”

PDP delegates who participated in the primaries that elected Engr. Abdullahi Ibrahim Gobir as the Senatorial candidate for the party to represent the Sokoto East Senatorial District have called on the National body of the party not to upturn the choice of the people, which they made during the primaries.

They spoke with newsmen at Gwadabawa where they went to confirm if the National body of the party was truly bent on disrespecting the choice of the people.

Speaking on behalf of the local government party chairmen of Isa, Illela, Sabon Birni, Gwadabawa, Raba, Wurno, Goronyo and Gada, chairman of Raba, Alhaji Mu’azu Rara said that it would be disastrous to interfere with the choice of the people.

According to him, “We elected Engr. Abdullahi Gobir based on our conviction that he would adequately represent the people of the Senatorial District. We will therefore be surprised if the party, which professes to be the party of the people and which professes equity and fair-play tries anything to upturn the veritable choice of the people,” Raba said.

“Although we have not seen officials from the National headquarters of the PDP and officials from INEC, if truly there is any plan to do that, we will be perturbed. We want to believe that they not being here means that all is rumour,” he added.

Raba however assured that the people of the District were not afraid of any rerun primary. “We are not afraid of the planned rerun primary. If 100 elections are staged, we will elect Gobir 100 times. This is a vouch. But if the PDP does not want us, let it say so.”

He called on the PDP to uphold the choice of the people saying, “There is no how 1547 against 60 votes could translate to abnormality, especially when Senator Abubakar Gada was sitting right at the venue and he saw it all.”
