DELTA State Government, yesterday, raised an eight man committee to visit Ayakoromo community to assess the damage done to it and work out modalities for immediate relief, while directing the management of the Delta State Oil Producing Development Commission, DESOPADEC, to release the sum of N50 million for the  rehabilitation of the community.

The Governor after meeting with the leaders of the community in Asaba, yesterday, lamented the ugly fate that had befallen them and directed the team to submit a report within one week.

Scores of displaced women and children of the community had also demonstrated last week in Asaba, complaining of their plight.

State Commissioner for Information Mr. Oma Djebah, who briefed the press on the outcome of the closed door meeting with the community leaders,  said the Governor directed the Commissioner for Primary and Basic Education to ensure that the shut schools in the area were re-opened immediately.
