Igbinedion, Uzamere mourn Oshiomhole’s wife
Labour Writers Asso-ciation of Nigeria, LAWAN, has expressed deep shock over the death of Clara Oshiomhole, the wife of the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole.
Also former Governor of Edo state, Chief Lucky Igbinedion and the Senator representing Edo South senatorial district in the Senate, Senator Ehigie Uzamere, have joined other Nigerians in mourning the shocking death of the wife of the state Governor, Mrs Clara Oshiomhole.
LAWAN, in a condolence message by its Chairman, described the death of Mrs. Oshiomhole as a huge loss not only to the family but to the people of Edo State and the entire labour movement.
The association described the late Clara Oshiomhole as a strong force behind the numerous achievement of her husband both during his days as a labour activitist and in his political career as governor of the state.
The statement added that Nigerians would not forget her contributions to the welfare of the people of Edo State especially towards addressing high mortality rate through her initiative, Health Foundation for Maternal and Child Care, aimed at providing quality health care for pregnant women and the girl-child.
“Our heart and prayers go out to Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and his family, the people of Edo State, and the entire labour movement. The late first lady has been a solid pillar behind her husband’s achievements over the years. We pray God almighty to give her gentle soul eternal rest and grant the governor, his family and the entire people of Edo State the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.” The statement added.
Mrs. Oshiomhole died last Tuesday at the Abuja Clinic, Maitama, after a protracted battle with breast cancer.
FORMER Governor of Edo state, Chief Lucky Igbinedion and the Senator representing Edo South senatorial district in the Senate, Senator Ehigie Uzamere, have joined other Nigerians in mourning the shocking death of the wife of the state Governor, Mrs Clara Oshiomhole.
Also, the former Chairman of Egor Local Government Council, Mr Crosby Eribo, has also lamented the death of the Edo First Lady, describing it as a big blow to the people of the state.
A condolence letter addressed to Governor Oshiomhole, signed by Chief Igbinedion, said “I received with rude shock the news of the sudden death of your dear wife, Mrs Clara Oshiomhole. Anyone who knew your dear wife will readily attest to her good Christian life, humility and the strong pillar of support she gave you in your labour days and in your struggle to reclaim your mandate.
“These attributes have endeared her to many not only in the state but the nation as a whole. I can imagine the intense feeling of loss you must be passing through now, but I urge you to take consolation in the fact that your late wife, eventhough her life was short, lived a good life and produced children who are doing well in their endeavours.
“My prayer is that the good Lord will continue to bless you and give you the strength to cater for the children she left behind. Kindly accept my sympathy my hearth felt condolences.”
Uzamere who spoke to Vanguard shortly after he paid a condolence visit to the Governor, said: “it will take a long time before we will be able to over come this shock. She was a mother to all and Nigerians will miss him. May her soul rest in peace”
