Anenih, Oghiadohme vow to return Edo to Pdp

By Simon Ebegbulem
BENIN—FORMER Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Tony Anenih and the Chief of Staff to the President, Chief Mike Oghiadohme, weekend, expressed the readiness of the party to recapture the Edo State governorship seat, come 2012.

While Anenih declared that the PDP will recapture the seat from Governor Adams Oshiomhole led Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, “through the ballot box and not through the judiciary,” Oghiadohme warned that the party will not tolerate violence, which he said was perpetrated by the ACN during the House of Assembly rerun elections in Akoko Edo and Etsako Central constituencies of Edo State.

The duo spoke during the end of year party, organised for party members by the state Chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih, at his country home in Ogbonna, Etsako Central Local Government Area of the state.

Orbih in his welcome address, admonished party members to come out en-mass and participate in the forthcoming voters registration, adding that the party in the state had been repositioned to sack the ACN led government in the state “starting from the 2011 general elections and the 2012 Governorship election.”

Chief Anenih who commended the party members for being steadfast, assured that “yes, we have a Governor who said he is a product of the judiciary. We will produce a Governor through the ballot box. I wish you happy Christmas and a prosperous new year.”

On his part, Oghiadohme, urged members of the party to remain resolute despite the opposition they faced in the state, recalling that “in 2007, there is no doubt that the PDP won the election. But, however, the time is around the corner for us to prove that we won that election, which  was annulled. We will win through the ballot box and not through the court.”

“I don’t want us to be disillusioned about all the rubbish that happened in Akoko Edo and Etsako Central. It was a mobilization of thugs to come and destabilize our people. But what we are entering now is a general election. No thus will destabilize you because every body now will have to man his locality not the situation where they brought all the thugs in the state into one Local Government. There will be no more excuses. ACN does not exist on ground they only exist on the pages of the newspapers” he stated.
