25 suspected kidnappers, cultists arrested in Asaba

Asaba — FOLLOWING  Tuesday’s clash by cult groups  and incessant kidnap cases, men of the State Police Command and state Security Service, SSS, yesterday, raided some criminals’ hideouts, arresting a total of 25 suspects.

The joint raid was confirmed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Charles Muka, who assured that the exercise would be a continuous one in order to rid the state of criminals. He also promised that the command has mapped out measures to ensure that residents enjoy a crime-free yuletide.

According to him, “Delta State Police Command in collaboration with the SSS have arrested 25 suspects over armed robberies, kidnapping, cultism, killing of two youths in Asaba in the night of December 21.

“The suspects were picked up at Asaba, Okpanam and Ibusa. The suspects’ confession led to the recovery of two English pistols, one locally made pistol, one AK 47 magazine and 257.62 mm ammunition and four live cartridges.

The suspects are helping State Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Asaba in the investigation,” he added.
