Umuahia—TOUCHED by the plight of traders of Ngwa Road market, Aba, Abia State, whose wares were last week gutted by fire, Governor Theodore Orji has made a donation of N2 million to them to help ameliorate their problems.

Orji, who announced the donation when he visited the market to sympathize with the traders, regretted the incident and urged the affected traders to take heart.

The governor inspected the affected stores and prayed that such an incident should not recur in the market.
Orji used the forum to promise Aba people that, henceforth, the city will witness a major transformation.

He further assured the people of the state that all kidnappers in the city will gradually be flushed out.
Earlier in his speech, Chairman, Ngwa Road market, Mr. Christian Oruche, explained that the fire started at about 1 am last Tuesday, and regretted that the men of the Fire Service could not gain access to the market, prompting the traders to fight the fire themselves.

Oruche thanked the governor for identifying with them and also disclosed that Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Uzor Azubuike, and Transition Committee Chairman, Aba South logacl government council, Dr. Nwachukwu Okoli, had all come to their aid by donating N1 million each to them.
