Heartland FC stand-in captain, Julius Ubido wants a positive mind from fans in Warri when he leads a rejuvenated Heartland FC squad to battle against Warri Wolves on Sunday.
The Heartland midfield marshal and his team-mates are bound to face the vociferous Warri fans which incidentally include his own kinsmen and pals. They will also encounter two former team mates, Ike ThankGod and Emmanuel Omodiagbe both of who joined Wolves this season.
“ Yes! I’m a ‘Warri boy’ and it’s usually great to play at Warri Stadium, “ said the Delta State born star. “ I have my own fans and many others there who want to see me play. I want to give my best and leave them with a good impression on my game, all am asking is for everyone to have a positive mind,” he appealed.
Ubido said he knows the Warri terrain very well and that in as much as the fans would want to root for the home team, they nonetheless, will like to see good scientific football which Heartland FC have just re-invented
“Our team is getting better. We have a new pattern and I’ll say almost every body there is gifted either in ball possession, laying of passes or on marking.
After we beat Niger Tornadoes our confidence came back because we now know that it is not only about good game but that we can also do that and get result. If we can get our acts together then, we’ll return from Warri with victory,” he added. Ubido was also the Heartland FC stand-in captain when both sides met at Ughelli Stadium last season which Warri Wolves narrowly won 3-2.
