Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), leading Nollywood stars and other dignitaries drawn from both the public and private sectors will be attending this year’s edition of the annual Association of Movie Producers AMP-EKO International Film Festival, as special guests and invitees.
Aside declaring open the five-day gathering of filmmakers, which holds between Monday, November 22 and Friday, 26, at the National Theatre, Lagos, Fashola, one of the few patrons of AMP, is also coming as the chief host and special guest of honour alongside members of his cabinet.
The theme of the festival, which is the third since it began three years ago, is: Film as a Veritable Tool for Social Engineering. According to Mr. Paul Obazele, the national president of AMP and host of the festival, filmmakers coming from within and outside Nigeria, are expected to critically examine and evaluate the importance of this year’s theme and proffer solutions on how best to maximize the potentials of the theme for the benefit of their immediate societies.
The award is our own little way of telling them thank you for all that they have been doing for us. I want to assure you that we have put all machinery in place to make this festival very successful and we are immensely grateful to all our sponsors and supporters for helping us make this festival hold as planned this year.
