AFTER series of meetings and consultations by the Mallam Adamu Ciroma-led ‘’17-wise men” to get a candidate for the North on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the consensus candidate will emerge on Tuesday next week.
Vanguard gathered Thursday that the announcement will be a follow-up to the Kaduna meeting slated for Sunday, November 21, where all the reports would have been looked at by the enlarged Ciroma’s Committee after the submission of its report by the selection sub-committee.
It was also gathered that the four Presidential aspirants, former Military President Ibrahim Babangida, ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Governor Bukola Saraki and the immediate past Security Adviser, Gen. Aliyu Mohammed Gusau will also attend the Sunday meeting where they would be briefed on the outcome of the Committee’s report on the selection of a consensus candidate for the North and the presentation of the person.
It will be recalled that the Ciroma’s Committee came up to choose among former Military President Ibrahim Babangida, ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Kwara State governor, Bukola Saraki and the immediate past National Security Adviser to the President, Gen. Aliyu Mohammed Gusau as the Northern candidate.
At the end of the day, the chosen aspirant would wrestle the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP with President Goodluck Jonathan during the staggered primaries and the ratification at the party’s National Convention.
