NO fewer than forty founding members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ebonyi State have pulled out of the party to pitch tent with the All Nigerian Peoples Party, ANPP.
This came as ANPP’s National Chairman, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, formally unveiled Senator Julius Ali Ucha as the party’s gubernatorial aspirant in 2011 general elections.
Speaking at the weekend in Abakaliki, during the occasion of a civic reception organized for him, Dr. Onu, who expressed delight over the influx of new members to the party, assured them of the party’s support in all their endeavours.
“I am very happy today that many sons and daughters of the state have decided to come to ANPP and I congratulate all of them and welcome them to ANPP. I assure them that we have received them with our arms widely opened.
“National Chairman will not determine who is going to contest any position in Ebonyi State, the decision belongs to the people.
“We’ll allow internal democracy to thrive in our party; this is the policy of the party, not just in Ebonyi State but throughout Nigeria.
“ANPP wants to lead Nigeria in ensuring that there is internal democracy in all political parties,” he noted
Dr. Onu, who was the former governorship candidate of the party in the 2003 general elections in the state, pointed out also that ANPP was ready to take over government at all levels, stressing that positive change could only come to Ebonyi State people through the emergence of an ANPP-led government in the state.
