Zamfara United FC will kick start this season’s Nigerian Premier League with a visit to Ilorin to trade tackles with Bukola Babes at the Kwara State Stadium, the team’s General Manager believes the team is prepared enough for the season.
Speaking with Saturday Vanguard Sports, the team’s General Manager, Ibrahim Musa said Zamfara United is ready to compete for top spot in the Nigerian League this season.
“We are fully prepared for the season given the caliber of players we have now, I believe we will go far in this season. We have a very young team which we want to give all the necessary exposure for a bright prospect for next season.”
“I do not want to make promises on any target for the season for now but I know we will finish in the top 10 at the end of the season. Competing in the continent is good for the team but we have so much to put in place, like our stadium as just been awarded for construction by the Governor which we will prefer to play any continental games.” Ibrahim Musa said.
On the issue of players not being paid their allowances, Ibrahim Musa said “as far as we are concern, we do not make promises that we can not keep, what signed with our players is what we have paved them since their contract was signed. We are the only team that has not been taken to board for none payment of players allowances.”
Commenting on the Nigerian Premier League Board’s ability, Ibrahim Musa said they have not shown any their full potentials as they are still not settled in office.
“I can not appraise them now because they have not been given the chance to do their functions properly, I am sure of the persons that are there” Ibrahim Musa added.
