Women group to sensitize for voters’ registration

By Charles Kumolu
WARRI Women Consultative Assembly,WWCA, plans to sensitize Itsekiri ahead of the forthcoming voters registration by the Independent Electoral Commission of Nigeria, INEC.

A stakeholders’ forum on the voters’ registration is scheduled for today in Abuja. The convener of WWCA, Chief Mrs. Rita Lori-Ogbebor, told newsmen in Lagos a similar exercise would take place in Ibadan and Port Harcourt

She said “the last stakeholders forum in Warri was a huge a success , it was well attended and it was a demonstration that the Itsekeri are ready to actively participate in electing those, who will represent them.

That is why we also  want to  sensitize them for the voters registration. Since after the crisis a lot of people left for various cities, so we now want them to make themselves available for registration.

“If they fail to come out to register it will be against their right and they will be disenfranchising themselves. Therefore, for good leaders to emerge from the elections, we must register enmass so that we can vote..”
