Jos—The All Nigerian Peoples Party, ANPP, says it will field only loyal members who will not abandon the party after winning on its platform in next year’s elections.
Deputy National Chairman (North) of the party, Dr. Yusuf Musa stated this, weekend after the Plateau State congress of the party during which new officials were elected.
He said the party would try to avoid the situation it found itself where some of those who won elections on the party’s platform later jumped ship for selfish reasons.
He described such attitude as unhealthy for the country’s democracy, stressing that the party would be wary of such unfaithful members in future.
Musa called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to suspend political parties that fail to conduct congresses ahead of next year’s election.
He congratulated the elected members and urged them to ensure a level playing ground for aspirants into various positions.
The newly elected state chairman of the party, Mr. Geoffrey Yenle in his acceptance speech promised that the new executive would run the affairs of the party in line with its ideals and carry members along in all they do.
He solicited the cooperation of members in the pursuit of justice, peace and fairness within the party adding that constructive criticism and pieces of advice would be welcome.
