The market indicators for measuring the performance indices on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) the market capitalisation and the All share index ,Wednesday, appreciated by 0.09 per cent each.
In particular, the capitalisation surged by N7.25 billion to close at N7.967 trillion from N7.960 trillion at which it opened, while the index soared by 22.76 bases points to close at 24,996.14 points from 24,973.38 points.
Nestle Nigerian Plc recorded the most share price gain on the gainers table with a gain of N12.05 to close at N400.00 per share, UAC Nigeria Plc followed with a gain of N0.89 to close at N39.99 per share and Ecobank Transnational Incorporation Plc garnered N0.54 to close at N16.00 per share.
Other share price gainers include: Ashaka Cement Plc N0.50, Diamond Bank Plc N0.36, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc N0.25, Skye Bank Plc N0.20, First City Monument Bank Plc N0.19, Access Bank Plc N0.16, Eterna Oil and Gas Plc N0.15, among others.
On the contrary, Lafarge Cement WAPCO Plc recorded the most share price loss dropping by N0.75, to close at N40.50 per share, Nigerian Breweries Plc followed with a loss of N0.50 to close at N76.00 per share and UAC-Property Development Company Plc dipped by N0.50 to close at N76.00 per share.
Other share price losers include: Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc N0.37, United Bank for Africa Plc N0.34, Presco Plc N0.31, May and Baker Nigeria Plc N0.28, First Bank Plc N0.25, Union Bank Nigeria Plc N0.19, Zenith Bank Plc N0.19, among others.
Equity trading plunge 21.83 per cent as a turnover of 363.73 million shares valued at N6.04 billion was recorded in 6,128 deals, compared to the previous day’s turnover of 465.32 million shares valued at N28.76 billion in 7,461deals.
The Banking sub-sector was the most sought after on the sectorial analysis accounting for 70.18 per cent of the market turnover with 254.90 million shares valued at N2.02 million in 3,812 deals. Zenith Bank Plc recorded the highest patronage in the sub-sector trading 58.47 million shares valued at N806.16 million in 399 deals, Access Bank Plc followed with the exchange of 22.14 million shares valued at N198.10 millionin228 deals and Sterling Bank Plc recorded 21.41 million shares valued at N38.06 million in 65 deals.
The Computer and Office Equipment sub-sector followed on the sectorial analysis accounting for 5.50 per cent of the market turnover with 20. Million shares valued at N10 million in four deals. Omatek Ventures Plc boosted activities in the sub-sector trading 20 million shares valued at N10 million in two deals and Thomas Wyatt Nigeria Plc recorded 765 shares valued at N1,009.80 in two deals.
