OAAN proposes mega-brand out of home advertising

The Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN) has concluded arrangement to upgrade the level of advertising in the country to a mega-brand of out-of-home advertising as witnessed in most developed nation.

The president of the ssociation, Kole Ademulegun who stated this during the inauguration of the jurist for the forth coming of OAAN exhibition and poster awards scheduled for October 20, at Eko Hotels  said henceforth advertising and publicity will be handled by professionals.

according to him, there has been a lull but pointed out that the out-of-home medium has bounces back to reclaim its leadership position in the marketing communication industry.
Ademulegan noted that out door advertising has being a primary, secondary as well as supporting form of medium which is cheap and affordable in the communication industry.

The chairman, Business Relations Committee, Chief Terry Otuya explained that the association has started a global standard street furniture in Lagos which he said is now spreading across the country.

Otuya stated that there has been a lacuna in the industry hence the rewarding of creativity on those who has been able to whither the storm.

He said the association after six  years of resting the award decided to start again so as to award creativity as well as give encouragement and provide focus to practitioners and the upcoming ones.

‘There is a new trend in out door advertising form subsistence advertising to hi-tech advertising which has added value and aesthetic to the work of the industry to compete favorably with foreign advertisers’

A five-man jurist inaugurated include, the managing director of Martlink Advertising Limited, who serves as the chairman, Head of Monitoring, Advertising Practitioner of Nigeria, Mrs Ijedi Iyoha, Integrated Marketing and Communication Manager, Cadbury Plc, Taiwo Adeleye, School of Media and Communication Pan African University, Kennedy Esere and the Secretary of OAAN, Chief Olamuyiwa who will serve as the secretary.

The jurists are expected to  score the awardees in the categories of originality of creative ideas, product identification, short copy and impact, can the reader grasp the idea at a glance?, can the reader read the copy at a distance while moving.Other criteria and score points are large illustration,  picture bold,  colour definition
Various categories of advertising products has also been identified  for the award such as dairy products, food and beverages, alcoholic drinks, non alcoholic drinks, financial services, electrical/electronics/computer, automobile/accessories, pharmaceuticals, household products,
Other areas are most innovative out-of-home company, most community service relations compliant, company out-of-home, the legend out-of-home and grand poster award .

Aside from Nigeria other countries that will be in attendance according to the association’s chairman, Business Relations Committee include practitioners from Netherlands, Morocco, Ghana and Sweden while the Lagos State governor will be the host of other dignitaries from the Federal Executive Council as well as Legislature
