Nigeria leads in Africa Scrabble tourney

Team Nigeria look set to retain the African Scrabble Championship the won in Kenya two years ago as defending, champion, Wellington Jighere leads others with 15 wins and a margin of 1397, ahead of another Nigerian Ayorinde Saidu who also has 15 wins but a lower margin of 1281.

Out of the top 10 players on the score sheet after 20 games, Nigeria has nine with Ghana’s Michael Akonor being the only outsider with 12 wins to occupy the 9th position, just ahead of Nigeria’s Nsikan Etim who also has 12 wins but a lower margin of 581.

The other Nigerians in the top 10 are Chinedu Okwelogu 3rd, Emmanuel Umujose 4th, Dennis Ikekeregor 5th, Prince Omosefe 6th, Sunday Oshodi 7th and Eta Karo 8th.
