Nigeria Under-20 coach, John Obuh, has said he will not beg top striker Ahmed Musa to rejoin the team ahead of this weekend’s African Youth Championship qualifier at home to Mauritius.
Musa featured for the Flying Eagles in Port Louis in the first leg but he has yet to return to the team after he was released to the Super Eagles for the Nations Cup tie in Guinea.
“Everybody is trying to be part of the team. So, if anybody decides to remove himself from the team, so be it. But I know that there are people who are willing to come and play and they will have the opportunity to play when others are not around to play,” the Sharks FC coach told MTNFootball.com.
“Ahmed Musa did not come back after his game in Guinea with the Eagles. Although I made several attempts to reach him, I couldn’t. Sani Emmanuel and Onaze Ogenyi too are not in camp. Although I didn’t go to Mauritius with them, it was only Ahmed who was in the team to Mauritius.
“It has always been like that because there has not been a time I played with a complete team. I don’t have to be disappointed that they won’t play the match against Mauritius here in Abuja on Saturday because there are always people who will play at any given point in time.”
Little known Crown of Ogbomosho striker Harrison Egbune has already staked a claim for a starting shirt on Saturday after he scored a second_half match winner against Nigeria Premier League (NPL) side Niger Tornadoes in a test game on Tuesday in Abuja.
