Ekiti re-run verdict: Obasanjo snubs journalists

By Ola Ajayi

IBADAN — FORMER President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday shunned newsmen who surrounded him to know his reaction to the loss of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State.

As soon as Obasanjo who was clad in flowing White Agbada, came out from a public lecture in honour of Chief Afe Babalola at the University of Ibadan, organised by the Medical Students Association, he frowned his face and refused to grant any interview.

Immediately he had his way cleared, he sneaked into a waiting black SUV with number plate LAGOS JN 99 EKY and zoomed off.

When he observed that the newsmen were blocking him, he stopped and without telling his security aides, they cleared his way and drove all the journalists away.

President Obasanjo was the president when most of the South West states were controversially won by his PDP party.

While speaking at the distinguished lecture, Chief Obasanjo spoke glowingly about Chief Babalola as one of the respected philanthropists in the country.

He described the legal luminary as a man who does everything he accepts to do with distinction.
