UGHELLI—THE Delta State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service, yesterday flagged off an e-registration exercise of ECOWAS and other non Nigerians residing in the Central Senatorial zone of the state, in an effort to enhance national security.
Speaking at the flag off ceremony in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area of the State, Comptroller of the command, Alhaji S.A. Sakwa, said the exercise was aimed at having at a glance, the statistical data of all non-Nigerians living in the country.
Sakwa, who spoke through Superintendent of Immigration, Alhaji Sa’Ad Ibrahim, said the e-registration was a security strategy put in place by the Federal Government to generate a reliable database of full personal and biometric information.
He reiterated that the e-registration would help to check the activities of non Nigerians residing in the country, adding; “This exercise is not to witch hunt any foreigner in our midst but to monitor, control their entry, stay and exit from the Local Government as provided for by ECOWAS protocol.”
