PDP warns godfathers to steer clear of party in Anambra

By Vincent Ujumadu

AWKA—THE Chief Emma Nweze-led caretaker committee of Anambra State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday warned political godfathers who had held the party to ransom in the state over the years to steer clear of the party, advising genuine members to beware of another attempt to deceive them.

Nweze’s statement came on the heels of a meeting held at the weekend in Awka between the factions led by Chief Benji Udeozor which has the blessing of Chief Chris Uba and another, led by Mr. Bright Nebedum, which has the support of former governor, Dr. Andy Uba.

At the meeting, both groups resolved to work together to ensure that the caretaker committee put in place by the National Chairman, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, did not succeed in its on-going efforts to unite the various interest groups in the party and move the party forward.

Nweze alleged in a statement that the two groups had finalized arrangements to commence the sale of nomination forms to all categories of aspirants ahead of next year’s election and warned party members and supporters to beware of such antics.

The statement said: “It is our sacred duty to alert our teeming party members of this diabolical and deceitful plan and to make our stand clear on them.

“There is one executive of PDP in the state and that is the state caretaker committee, headed by Chief Emma Nweze, which was inaugurated on August 24, 2010, by the national chairman of the party, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo.”
