When the 2010 All Stars Veterans Cup kicks off Friday, the Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola, deposed President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Aminu Maigari will be among the leading stars to feature in the games.
While Fashola, a prolific goal poacher would lead the attack of Lagos All Stars International Football club, Aminu Maigari will star for the Bauchi state team, when hostilities commence at the Campus Square, Lagos.
Speaking on preparations for the two-day Games which will involve teams from Benin, Enugu, Bauchi, Kano, Abuja and hosts, Lagos, Godson Uti who is in charge of technical matters confirmed to journalists yesterday that governor Fashola will be in the forefront of the All Stars team’s search for glory at the games.
“He is as fit as a fiddle and will lead our attack,” Uti assured, stressing that Fashola had been training with the team with a mission to win the championship which is being bankrolled by Diamond Bank and Chyzob Pharmacy.
The games will feature retired footballers and mostly former Nigerian internationals who are scattered all over the country. Notable ex-internationals expected with their teams include Ifeanyi Onyedika, a former Rangers International and Green Eagles player, Baldwin Bazuaye, Tony Emedofu, Benedict Ugwu among others.
