‘Nigeria, still potential market for hard drives’

Director of Sales MEA and CIS at Western Digital, providers of data storage and multimedia solutions,Mr. Mohammed Owais, last week reinforced the popular opinion that Nigeria is still a potential market for all ICT components and parts.

Mohammed whose company joined forces with Redington, another renowned IT distributor in the Middle East and Africa, to host the Redington Information Technology Africa, RITA award in Lagos, also stressed that Nigeria was more specifically a hard drive market potential.

According to him,“to further unlock the immense potential that the Nigerian ICT market posses, there is a need to explore the hard drive market . With 40 years of technology innovations and more than 800 million hard drives shipped since we started hard drive manufacturing in 1988, we have developed a wealth of industry knowledge and gained mass market recognition, a success story that continues to make us a winning brand today.
“We want to establish our winning hard drive brand in Nigeria, as we have done successfully in other countries in Africa, and grow along with its flourishing ICT market”, he added.

Redington, recognizing the potential of the Nigerian market, started servicing the region in 2003.
Also, Redington’s General Manager IT Volume Business, Santosh Sansare, also corroborated him, saying “our dream and focus is to be part of the growing economy and we see Nigeria championing that in Africa.

I think we have understood Africa better through Nigeria because the Nigerian market is in the top three, leaving countries like South Africa, Algeria and Morocco behind”, stressed.

Introduced in 2010, RITA is a Redington IT Africa initiative to reach, relate, reward and recognize channel business and performance while allowing vendors to promote their brands & products.
