Federation Cup: Gov. Yakowa lauds Kaduna United

Governor of Kaduna state, Mr. Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa has congratulated the 2010 Federations Cup Champions, Kaduna United for achieving the feat. The club at the weekend became the first team in the state to lift the oldest football trophy in the country,  at the main bowl of the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.

Yakowa said he was particularly impressed by the performance put up by the players and officials of the team who will now represent Nigeria in the African Confederations Cup Competition in 2011 and assured that his administration “in the state will do everything humanly possible to motivate the entire team to ensure that they bring back home the African cup”.

According to Yakowa, the “Kaduna state government will also continue to encourage other football clubs in the state to do the state proud in national and international competitions” even as the Kaduna United will be strengthened with tested players to achieve greater success in future competitions”.

Furthermore, the Governor assured “all athletes in the state that the government will ensure that their welfare is taken care of, especially as we prepare for the 17th National Sports Festival to be hosted by Rivers State later in the year”.

Yakowa stressed that “it is in the light of this that government has invested huge amount of money on the provision of world class sporting facilities in the state capital and other parts of the state.”
