By  Chioma Obinna

The spate of faking of Yoyo Bitters a popular herbal supplement drink, will  soon be a thing of the past thanks to an agreement between Abllat Nigeria Ltd., the manufacturers and the Lagos State branch of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) to jointly mop up the fake and substandard batches of the product in circulation.

In a statement , Chairman  ACPN  Pharm. Felix Anieh confirmed that part of the agreement is that the problem would be tackled from source by the appropriate regulatory agency while  Community Pharmacists are to source the product from the accredited list of registered distributors. The list is available at the ACPN Lagos secretariat.

Cnsumers are also enjoined to procure all drugs from registered pharmaceutical premises, that can be identified by the trademark green cross emblem, available at the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) secretariat for the records.

Anieh assured that pharmaceutical premises which display these emblem can be vouched for as centers where good pharmacy practice entails at all times as accredited by the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN), PSN, and ACPN.

In a telephone chat,  Abllat Nigeria Limited, confirmed the development adding that earlier dfferences between the two bodies have been resolved by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
