KANO â€” Police authority in Kano prevented hundreds of Arewa Youth Development Foundation from entering Kano Government House where they had intended to stage a protest in support of PDP zoning formula.
The Arewa Youth Development Foundation which drew its membership largely from students of existing tertiary institutions in the state had days earlier declared their preparedness to stage a peaceful protest over the recent pronouncement that declared zoning formular dead by the National Chairman of PDP, ChiefÂ Okwesilieze Nwodo.
Major roads and outlets leading into and out of the Government House located within the GRA were cordoned off by heavily armed policemen, while those who have genuine cases to access the road were subjected to serious scrutiny.
Security presence at the Government House was unprecedented as visitors were equally scrutinized by officials of the State Security Service before they were allowed in.
The arrival of Arewa youths in buses heightened the security concern as mobile policemen formed a ring to block vehicular and human access to the seat of Kano State Government.
A senior police officer approached the students and politely told the leadership of the protesting Youths to â€˜disperseâ€™, as he stressed that the police were â€˜acting on the order from aboveâ€™
