By Emma Arubi
WARRI—PROPERTY worth millions of naira were destroyed by some youths of Ifiekporo community in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, weekend, when they  invaded the community and burnt down no fewer than 5 houses and 8 cars using the Anti-Terrorist Squad (Red Berret) as smokescreen.

Youth Chairman of the community, who spoke with newsmen, Mr. Oritsema Ayifoma, said the invaders were led by a factional leader, who brought in the red-berret to effect the arrest of some other persons in another faction.

He said the attackers injured several persons as they came into the community with guns, and other dangerous weapons and succeeded in abducting more than four youths during the raid.

The Ifiekporo community has been battling with serious leadership crisis in recent times.

Vanguard gathered that tussle over who is the rightful community head and leaders has continued to polarize the community.

It was further gathered that after the arrest of some persons by the security agents, the same group who brought in the police then descended on the other faction in their helpless condition.

Speaking to Vanguard in an exclusive interview, the Public Relation Officer, Dr. Bruce Menekpo, said the matter was promptly reported to the Area Commander but expressed regret that the police have not shown enough resolve towards ending the crisis in the community as the activities of the attackers have been reported several times to them without fruitful result.

They appealed to the state government and other security agencies to come to their aid and bring the perpetrators of the nefarious acts to book.
