BENINâ€”EDO State government has advised members of the Caretaker Committee of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, in the state to do all that is possible to return peace to the association.
Senior Special Assistant to Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State on Labour Matters, Comrade Benson Osifo, who said this, reiterated the administrationâ€™s policy of obeying the rule of law in all its dealings.
Comrade Osifo, who was a former state chairman of the Nigeria Labour, NLC, in the state, made the assertion in Benin while receiving members of the caretaker committee of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, Benin Depot led by its chairman, Mr. Douglas Iyike.
According to the aide of Comrade Governor Oshiomhole, the processes that brought up the committee were faultless considering that it was a product of circumstances.
He noted that the coming on board of the committee was necessitated by the crisis that engulfed the association for several years, adding that its inauguration by the national body of the association gave the Committee a legitimate backing.
He advised members of the association not to take the law into their hands in their day to day activities while calling for support for the committee members in their discharge of their onerous task.
Comrade Osifo affirmed that the Oshiomhole led government was labour friendly and was very much in tune with up lifting the living standards of the people.
He urged the executive members of the committee and indeed all those who believe in their cause not to derail in their objective of ensuring the welfare of their members.
Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, Mr. Douglas Iyike told Osifo that his committee was in his office to intimate him of its activities since it was inaugurated on2, June 2010.
