2011 guber: Enugu North professionals ask kinsmen to steer clear

ENUGU— Professionals from Enugu-North senatorial district of Enugu State have warned gubernatorial aspirants for the 2001 elections from the area to pull out of the race to avoid robbing the area of the opportunity to produce a governor in 2015.

Operating under the aegis of Marshal Seven Club, the professionals appealed to those with the ambition of running in the elections to withdraw their interest and rally round Governor Sullivan Chime to actualise his second term bid.

In a statement signed by the Club’s Chairman, Chief Fidelis Ezema, and Secretary, Chief Lazarus Ogbonna, the professionals advised interested governorship candidates from their area to wait till 2015 to realise their dreams, as the district is expected to produce the governor that year.

According to them, it is in the best political interest of the zone to support Governor Chime to enable the zone have a smooth sail in 2015 without political encumbrance.

The group said it was most reasonable for the zone to allow the governor complete a second term in office before going for the number one office in the state.

With membership  from Uzo-Uwani, Igbo-Etiti, Udenu, Nsukka Urban, Igbo-Eze North, Igbo-Eze South and Isi-Uzor local councils, the club noted that after due consultations, the zone has decided to support Governor Chime for a second term.
