CHAIRMAN Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Association, NFA, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi after studying Lars Lagerback’s 23-man final list swore that the Eagles would shock team’s in South Africa. “As a former player, I know what I am talking about. These Eagles will create upsets. They are selected on meritâ€, Ogunjobi former scribe of the FA said on our hotline.
“We’ve done our best for the team and the Coach wants to make his mark with the team. He has shown professionalism and the players have acclaimed it, tooâ€, Ogunjobi said.
Observers feared that the NFA might influence Lagerback to pick some players of their choice but Ogunjobi said that there was nothing like that. “Lagerback brought the list and we argued over it and he defended it well.
He dropped Anichebe, Onyekachi Apam and Ike Uche because of injuries. We took Anichebe to Liverpool because of his injury and it was proved that he could not make it to world Cup. He can be reached to confirm because the coach really wanted him to go to the world cup.
Ike Uche we all know was recuperating from injury and was not totally fit and so also with Apam. The coach picked the best players based on merit. We want him to succeed and allowed him free hand. Let Nigerians support the team. I see them making everybody proud in the world cupâ€, Ogunjobi insisted.
