ABUJA—The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday quizzed former Managing Director of Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, Engr. Joseph Makoju, Engr G.O.P. Osakwe, and Nigeria Telecommunications, NITEL, Legal Adviser, Mr Samson Olabiyi over their alleged roles in the 17.5 million Euros Siemens scam.

It was learnt that the former PHCN boss and others arrived the headquarters of the anti-graft agency and were immediately ushered into the inner chambers of the commission for interrogation.

The commission had, weekend, invited both serving and non-serving government officials suspected to know anything about the scam. Those invited include the following: Engr Joseph Makoju, a former MD of PHCN, Albert Mashi, former MD of NITEL, Mr E.C. Ossai, former GM NITEL, Edwin Momfe, CEO Mtel, Shuaibu Megida, ex Director PHCN, Engr G.O.P Osakwe, CEO PHCN, Engr S.M.Mahmood, Perm Sec, Power and Steel Ministry, R.Olusanju, Secretary, NITEL Tenders Board, Allah Bamulafiya, Director NITEL, and Samson Olabiyi, Legal Adviser, NITEL .

Our source further revealed that the three men were granted bail on personal recognition yesterday after the interrogation. 

 The former Minister of Communication and Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mohammed Bello was interrogated by operatives of the agency and later released on bail.
